We delve into the essential elements of narrative longform improvisation. At this point in your improv journey, you can create solid scenework and interesting characters, and you know when a good time to edit is. We now look at telling a story with a clear beginning, middle and ending, that will be exciting for the audience to watch, and for you to play in!

What you’ll learn

  • Story structure

  • Story formats

  • The Hero’s journey

  • Engaging your audience

Who this is for

This is one of our Bubbles. These courses are intended for improvisers who already have an understanding of the basics, perhaps (but not necessarily) though our own Starting Steps courses. If you’re wondering which course is right for you, then feel free to email us.

Your safety

We’re careful to keep everyone safe at this time, and we’re following public health guidelines in everything that we do. Find out more here.

About the teachers

Kelly Agathos

Kelly is the founder and artistic director of ImproBubble. Though steeped in theatre from a very young age, Kelly first discovered improvised theatre in 2010. It was love at first sight though, and slowly, scripted theatre started taking second place to make room for more and more improvisation.... In 2012, Kelly co-founded ATC Improv and The Ghost Sheep, the pioneers of anglophone improvisation in Brussels.

In 2017 she created ImproBubble, in order to deepen and broaden the range of improv opportunities for all levels, and to give improv lovers a home of their own in the heart of Brussels. The only thing Kelly loves more than improv is cats. True story.

Phil Lunn

Phil is co-director of ImproBubble. He discovered improv after working in scripted theatre, as a writer, director and musical director. He has since been improvising for several years, both on stage and behind the piano.

In that time, he’s worked with several leading UK groups, including Music Box, Mischief Theatre and Scratch. Phil has been a leading part of the improv community in London as it has grown in size and diversity. He has travelled to several international festivals with his solo show “Phil Lunn Is…”. Before moving to Brussels, Phil taught improv with Hoopla Impro and he worked closely with The Nursery Theatre and The Maydays.
